SC refuses to Salman's plea in chinkara hunting case
Monday, March 6 2006 12:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today(Mar 6,2006)refused to entertain a petition by film actor Salman Khan in connection with a chinkara hunting case in a Jodhpur court.

Salman, who had been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act in 1998, is being tried by the Jodhpur court for allegedly hunting chinkaras.

The apex Court Bench, headed by Justice Ashok Bhan, declared the petition -- dimissed as withdrawn and asked Salman to approach the Rajasthan High Court in this regard.

Salman had claimed that the statement of witness Harish Dulani in the case could not be accepted as evidence on 'technical grounds'.

A Jodhpur court had recently sentenced Salman to one year imprisonment in another poaching case. In one such case, charges have been framed against Salman and four other Bollywood stars, including Saif Ali Khan and Tabu.
