Varanasi: A blast rocked Sankat Mochan temple here today (Mar 07 2006) killing four persons and injuring several others, police said.

Senior officials of the district administration have reached the spot and the area has been cordoned off, Circle Officer T N Tripathi said.

The injured have been rushed to S S hospital of Benaras Hindu University campus.

Director General of Railway Protection Force A K Suri told sources that there was a blast at the holding area of the platform at Varansi Railway station.

About the casuality figure, he said prelimnary reports said that more than dozen people were injured.

More details were being awaited, he added.
