Varanasi: UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today(Mar 8,2006) said the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh Government will jointly work out the blasts in the temple city and bring its perpetrators to justice.

Gandhi, who airdashed here after two explosions rocked the famous Sankatmochan temple and the Cantonment Railway station, said "The Centre and the state government will act unitedly to punish those who perpetrated the blast."

The Congress President, who was accompanied by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, was speaking to reporters after visiting the temple and meeting with its priest Pandit Virbhadra Mishra.

Calling it a 'very sad moment', she also asked people to maintain communal harmomy.

Gandhi had to face some agitated people who were demanding strict action against the state government for its failure to provide security at religious places in Uttar Pradesh.

This is the second major terrorist strike in the state in less than one year.

Earlier, Jaish-e-Mohammed militants had carried out a suicide attack at the makeshift Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
