Minority accession of Mulayam, Centre led to blasts Wednesday, March 8 2006 19:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Varanasi:
Seizing on Varanasi blasts, BJP today (Mar 08 2006) charged the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh and the UPA government at the Centre with pursuing minority appeasement policy and said this "emboldend" terrorists to carry out ghastly acts in the country.
BJP President Rajnath Singh alleged the state government and the Centre were responsible for such incidents "by pursuing minority - appeasement policy which emboldened terrorists and subersive elements to carry out blasts at public places in order to terrorise the innocent people of the country."
Singh was addressing the media after visiting the blast site at Sankatmochan temple here and the injured in hospital.
Pointing to repeal of Prevention of Terrorists Act by UPA government, 'healing touch' policy of Congress-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir, "misuse" of IMDT Act in Assam and the Centre's move to amend the Foreigner's Act, Singh said such actions were reflective of secular parties' "soft attitude" towards the minority community.
"The fact that no part of the country is untouched by militants attack over the years, be it academic institution in Bangalore, religious places, military installations and other public places, spoke of the confidence of terrorist and subversive elements as they are of the view that secular political parties do not have the will to act firmly against them and their organisations."
