Varanasi blasts: Advani to undertake another yatra
Thursday, March 9 2006 10:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Donning the Hindutva cap once again after the Jinnah interlude, Leader of Opposition L K Advani today(Mar 8,2006) announced plans for undertaking yet another yatra in the wake of the blasts in Varanasi.

Making a scathing attack on the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and the 'minorityism' being pursued by the Congress-led UPA Government, Advani said he and BJP chief Rajnath Singh would embark on twin 'national integration yatras'.

"Between us, we will try to cover the country in two-three weeks time. The logistics including when to start and where to start is being worked out," he told reporters here.

Advani, who had to step down late last year following a spat with RSS over the Jinnah controversy, also announced that the party and party leaders will not celebrate Holi and select senior leaders, including himself, would visit the blast-affected Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi on March 16.

Earlier too, Advani had embarked two prominent yatras. While his Somanath - Ayodhya rath yatra had catapulted the BJP to the centrestage of national politics, his 'Bharat Uday (India Shining) Yatra' ahead of the 2004 Lok Sabha polls failed to help his party to regain power at the Centre.

The proposed 'National Integration Yatra' would be coninciding with the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
