DMK today (Mar 09 2006) clinched polls accords with the Congress, CPI-M and the Indian Union Muslim league, under which these parties has been allotted 48, 13 and 3 seats respectively.
On a day of swift developments, TNCC President M Krishnasamy and DMK President M Karunanidhi inked the accord first under which the party was allotted 48 seats, three seats more than it contested in the 2001 assembly polls.
Next to come was CPI-M leaders N Varadarajan and T K Rengarajan who were allotted 13 seats, five seats more than they contested in 2001.
Indian Union Muslim league, which contested one seat in 2001, was allotted three seats. All the three would contest under the DMK banner, a poll accord signed between IUML's state President Khadhar Mohideen and DMK President M Karunanidhi, said.
DMK had concluded the poll agreement with the CPI, which had been allotted ten seats.
PMK, another partner of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance, was expected to sign the accord tomorrow, PMK sources said.
Expressing happiness over the accord, TNCC president M Krishnasamy and CPI-M leader N Varadarajan said identification of seats would be completed before the weekend.
