Pak-based terror outfit was planning to strike in Goa

Panaji: Interrogation of a terrorist arrested in Goa has revealed that a Pakistan-based militant outfit was planning to strike at busy tourist places in theState, police sources today(Mar 11,2006) said.

During his interrogation, Tarique Anwar, who was arrested with explosives and firearms from Margao railway station, has confessed that Pakistan-based Tariq-ul-Mujahid militant outfit, to which he belongs to, 'was targeting busy tourist places in the State,' the sources said.

Anwar was arrested while alighting from Ernakulam (Kerala)-bound Matsyagandha Express at Margao, 30 kms from here.

Police have recovered two kgs of RDX, two hand grenades and other explosives from him, the sources said.

During the preliminary interrogation, he has also said that he was trained for two-and-a-half-years in the Pakistan militant camp.

"He was frequenting Goa for the last six months and was staying in a flat near Margao city," they said.

However, they revealed that, "Tariq was just a carrier of explosives".

The executor of the attack was yet to arrive in the state, they said.
