State INTUC to work for the victory of DPA, Cong Wednesday, March 15 2006 15:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Coimbatore:
With the national leadership of INTUC disapproving the action of two of its senior leaders alligning with the AIADMK to contest the coming assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, the state unit today(Mar 15,2006) appealed to all its affiliated unions to work for the victory of Congress and Democratic Progressive Alliance.
The INTUC national president G Sanjeev Reddy has already written a letter spurning the action of INTUC state President, P L Subbaiah and General Secretary G Kalan, to enter into an alliance with AIADMK and contest the elections.
The action was against the declared policy of INTUC and the state unit had no authority to enter into any poll alliance with AIADMK, the letter has said.
In this background, a 11-member delegation would leave for Hyderabad this evening to discuss the issue with its national President there, INTUC Central Working Member, N Nanjappan told sources.
"The delegation would meet and discuss the issue with the President G Sanjeev Reddy tomorrow and inform the decision taken by local unit to support the Congress candidates," he said.
Subbiah has already been relieved from his post, Nanjappan said.
