'Kashmir talks incomplete without us in frontline' Wednesday, March 15 2006 17:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Srinagar:
Apparently peeved with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf for not including them in the Kashmir dialogue, the pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen has said the process would not be complete until they were in the "frontline" of the talks.
It was "active on both military and diplomatic fronts", it said in an indication that it was unwilling to give up militancy.
"The formal dialogue process for resolution of Kashmir issue has not begun yet. Whenever it starts, Hizb will be in the frontline," Hizb self-styled operational commander Qazi Misbahuddin told a local news agency yesterday (Mar 14 2006).
He said India and Pakistan were talking about "trade and bilateral relations" so far and the dialogue for resolution of Kashmir had not begun yet.
He ruled out formation of a new political party, saying "Hizb is active on both military and diplomatic fronts. We do not need a political party to take part in the talks."
Misbahuddin said in the inteview that Hizb "announced a ceasefire in the past and held talks (with the Indian government) as well. These were part of the political and diplomatic activities of the outfit."
Commenting on the various formulae for resolving the Kashmir issue, he said "so far whatever has been proposed is dangling in air."
On the recently held Pugwash Conference in Islamabad, he said freedom-loving leaders should have avoided participation in it.
