Cong slammed for ignoring SCs, STs in RS nomination
Thursday, March 16 2006 20:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Opposition BJP today (Mar 16 2006) criticised the ruling Congress party saying it has neglected the Scheduled Castes and Tribes in its nominations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

"Though there is no reservation in Rajya Sabha, the BJP had kept in mind the social factor and composition while announcing its candidates for the Upper House and given one-third of seats to Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

"It appears that this factor has been lost sight of to a great extent in the Congress nominations", party General Secretary Arun Jaitley told sources over phone from Ahmedabad.
