No decision taken on tie-up with DIC(K): Chandy
Thursday, March 16 2006 14:32 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Thiruvananthapuram: Distancing himself from the talks his party leaders had with Karunakaran-led DIC-K, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today(Mar 16,2006) maintained that the Congress-led UDF had not taken any decision so far to include or to have adjustments with any party outside the Front.

He said only those who recognised the leadership of Sonia Gandhi could return to Congress or have adjustments with UDF.

Discussions with the Front partners on seat-sharing were progressing and it was in the final stage, Chandy told reporters after a special Cabinet meeting here.

Asked whether he would be contesting the coming polls, he said it was for the party to decide.

He said the UDF would face the polls by projecting various development works initiated during the last five-years and several new projects which were in the pipeline.

The AICC General Secretary in-charge of Kerala, Veerappa Moily, had held talks with DIC-K President K Muraleedharan yesterday to explore the possibilities for a tie-up with the UDF in the coming assembly polls.

Moily was to meet DIC-K leader K Karunakaran after his meeting with Chandy yesterday, but deferred the plan as he had to proceed urgently to Bangalore.
