Tamin Nadu government seeks review of EC order
Thursday, March 16 2006 19:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: A day after the Election Commission ordered the shifting of City Police Commissioner R Natraj for violation' of the model code of conduct, Tamil Nadu government sought a review of the order, official sources said today (Mar 16 2006).

The state government, while requesting a review, said his 'good record' as a police officer be kept in mind, the sources said.

The EC had yesterday ordered the state government to immediately shift Natraj on the charge of violation of the model code of conduct to a non-election post.

Union Environment and Forest Minister A Raja had recently complained to the Election Commission that Natraj was acting in a partisan manner.

In a television interview, Natraj had reportedly said that law and order was best maintained in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and that she was the best Chief Minister the state ever had.
