Arjun Singh files nomination for Rajya Sabha polls Friday, March 17 2006 14:50 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Senior Congress leader and Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh today (Mar 17 2006) filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh.
Singh, who was named by Congress as its nominee for the Upper House of the Parliament from the state, filed the papers on the last day for accepting nominations, official said.
Union Law Minister Hans Raj Bharadwaj, who was the Rajya Sabha member from Congress, has filed nominations from Haryana party sources said.
BJP had fielded former Union ministers Sushma Swaraj and Vikram Verma, former National Commission for Women member Anusuiya Uiekey and party leader Narayan Singh Kesari as its nominees for Rajya Sabha from the state.
Process of biennial election for five Rajya Sabha seats from the state started on March 10 with issuance of a notification inviting nominations till today.
The nomination forms will be scrutinised tomorrow, while nominations can be withdrawn till March 20, Assembly Principal Secretary A K Payasi said.
If necessary voting will be held on March 28, he said adding counting will be held on the same day.
