AIADMK finalises poll seat sharing arrangements

Chennai: AIADMK today (Mar 18 2006) finalised seat sharing arrangements for the Pondicherry assembly polls with its allies including Puducherry Munnetra Congress led by former Pondicherry Minister P Kannan, MDMK and the DPI.

As per the agreement, AIADMK would contest 16 of the 30 seats, leaving 10 to Puducherry Munnetra Congress and two each to MDMK and Dalit Panthers of India, AIADMK supreme Jayalalithaa said in a statement here.

AIADMK would contest from Muthialet, Uppalam, Urulianpet, Nellithope, Mannadipet, Usudu (SC), Uzhavarkarai, Thantanchavadi, Reddiarpalayam, Lazpet, Kottucherry, Karaikal (north), Neravi-Tirumalairayanpattinam, Mahe, Pallur and Ennam constituencies.

Puducherry Munnetra Congress would be fielding candidates from Casukadai, Rajbhavan, Bussy, Mudaliarpet, Ariyankuppam, Nettapakkam, Kuruvinatham, Bahur (SC), Villiyanur and Karaikal (South), while MDMK would be contesting from Thirubuvanai (SC) and Tirunallar constituencies.

DPI has been alloted Embalam and Nedunkadu (both reserved constituencies).
