Hyderabad: BJP today (Mar 18 2006) accused the UPA government of going "soft" on terrorists and adopting politics of appeasement "which has led to the growth of ISI activity with a strong base in the state capital."

"The soft attitude adopted by Centre in tackling terrorism has given scope for rapid growth of ISI sponsored terrorist activities with Hyderabad as its base," BJP President Rajnath Singh told sources here.

Barring terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, in all other incidents, help for the terrorists came from Hyderabad," Rajnath, on his maiden visit to the state capital after he took over the reins of the party, said.

"The appeasement politics by the Centre and state governments has provided a conducive ground for growth of ISI activities in the country," he said.

After UPA came to power POTA was repealed which had a major fall out and worked out to the advantage of terrorists and anti-national elements, he said.

Repealing POTA and taking a soft stand on terrorist outfits were some of reasons, for the growth of terrorist activities in the country, Rajanth pointed out.
