Nominations of six candidates including that of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan filed for the March 28 biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha to fill four seats from Karnataka, were found valid today (Mar 18 2006) after scrutiny.
The nomination papers of K B Shanappa (BJP), M Rajasekhara Murthy (JDS), BJP-JDS coalition government combine supported industrialist Rajeev Chandrashekhar (Ind), Jnanpeeth awardee U R Ananthamurthy (Ind) and Mallappa Chennappa (Ind) were also found to be in order, Returning Officer and State Assembly Additional Secretary S B Patil said here.
The papers of four independents - Sudhakar, T D R Harishchandra Gowda, Munireddy and Sashikumar- have been rejected, he said.
Rehman Khan had filed four sets of nominations and he had not affixed his signature in one of them, Patil said adding that the other three set of papers were found to be in order.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 20.
