Samajwadi Party member expelled from Rajya Sabha
Tuesday, March 21 2006 19:46 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha today (Mar 21 2006) expelled Samajwadi Party member Sakshi Maharaj for "compromising" dignity of the House and "inappropriate conduct" in sanction of funds under MPLADS, three months after the scam came to light through a sting operation.

It, however, exonerated BSP MP Isam Singh of the charge of "ethical misconduct."

The House accepted a report of the Committee on Ethics, headed by senior member Karan Singh, which had recommended expulsion of Maharaj and exoneration of Singh.
