Indian diplomat recalled from Kuala Lumpur by Govt
Thursday, March 23 2006 16:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kuala Lumpur: An Indian diplomat has been recalled by the government barely three months into his posting here apparently because he misused his position.

R K T Arasu, a Second Secretary in the Mission here, has now returned to India, but no one in the Indian High Commission is willing to talk on record.

Indian High Commissioner R L Narayan refused to comment on the issue.

Arasu, whose job included handling labour issues, was taking retrenched Indian workers "for a ride", according to informed sources.

Immigration authorities two weeks ago picked up 60 Indian labourers camping outside the High Commission and put them in detention centre till they could be repatriated.
