PMK demands CMP in case of fractured verdict in TN Thursday, March 23 2006 14:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
Ruling out participation in a coalition ministry in case of a fractured verdict in the May 8 Tamil Nadu assembly poll, the PMK, a constituent of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance, today (Mar 23 2006) demanded a Common Minimum Programme for the state on the lines of that of the UPA.
"We will not participate in any coalition government, but will offer unconditional support to the DMK, if the need arises, after the assembly poll. But we would like to have a CMP on the lines of UPA's CMP and also a coordination committee to monitor the CMP", PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss told sources after releasing the party's manifesto for the polls.
He said the identification of 31 constituencies allotted to his party in the DPA would be completed either tonight or tomorrow and an accord would be signed with the DMK.
After this, the PMK would hold talks with DMK and other DPA constituents with regard to the Pondicherry assembly polls, he said.
None of his family members would contest the polls, he said.
Exuding confidence that the DPA would win, Ramadoss said his party would form a 'shadow government' on the lines of the opposition in the House of Commons.
