The UPA Government's 'soft' approach towards the growing meance of terrorism and the policy of appeasement towards minorities prompted the BJP to launch its 'Bharat Surakhya Yatra' from Puri on April six next, party National Secretary Vijay Goel said yesterday(Mar 22,2006)
"We want to deliver the message to the people that the UPA Government is a danger to the security of the country", the BJP leader told reporters.
Goel alleged that the Manmohan Singh government "Has been trying to divide the country by its soft approach towards terrorist activities and its appeasement of minorities", and it had to be protested.
He said BJP President Rajnath Singh would launch the five-week-long journey from Puri on April six which would take him through 11 states before he reaches Delhi on May 10.
"Senior party leader Lal Krishna Advani would also launch another 'yatra' from Gujarat the same day with the same purpose," he said.
Goel, who would be accompanying Rajnath Singh during the tour as coordinator of the 'yatra' from Puri, said it would roll through Orissa, Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana.
"People are enthusiastic about it (the yatra)", he said.
