Centre gets EC not to hike DA of Govt employees

New Delhi: The Election Commission has given its nod to the Central government to increase the dearness allowance for its employees.

"Prima facie, we have no objection," Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon told reporters when asked to comment on Government seekings its permission in this regard.

The consent has been conveyed to Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi when the later called him over telephone.

The Union Cabinet had yesterday taken a decision on three per cent increase in dearness allowance for central government employees.
