Bhubaneswar: Cong leader hails Sonia's resignation
Friday, March 24 2006 18:34 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former MP Nityananda Mishra today (Mar 24 2006) hailed the resignation of AICC president Sonia Gandhi from the Lok Sabha and chairmanship of NAC, saying she had 'reaffirmed her unflinching commitment to democratic norms and value'.

''Gandhi has displayed great courage and conviction by her resignation from the Lok Sabha which has stunned the Opposition,'' Mishra, a former PCC chief, said in a statement here.

''For the second time, she has proved beyond doubt that she does not aspire for any position or power and is dedicated to the service of the nation and the people,'' he said.

''Through her bold action, she has reaffirmed her unflinching commitment to democratic norms and values which the leaders of all major opposition parties have signally failed to do,'' he said.
