Congress President, Sonia Gandhi was compelled to resign from the Lok Sabha and as chairperson of the National Advisory Council (NAC) due to the pressure build up by the BJP after meeting President, A P J Abdul Kalam on the issue of abrupt curtailment of the Parliament session in the wake of office of profit issue and the reported move to bring in an ordinance on the matter.
"It is not a sacrifice as reported in the media by the Congress leaders, but a move to save herself after the cancellation of the Rajya Sabha membership of Jaya Bachchan, as those parameters were applicable in the case of Gandhi also," former union minister and Madhya Pradesh BJP President,
Satya Narayan Jatia told reporters at the Meet The Press programme of Indore Press Club.
He also said that the other reasons behind Gandhi's decision could be her interest in retaining the post of theRajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) and also other posts she was holding.
Referring to the sacrifices made by her in the past by declining the post of Prime Minister, he said that she has turned down the post as she was not capable.
