About 25 Congress MLAs from Madhya Pradesh and Lok Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia today (Mar 25, 2006) met party President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and submitted their
resignations to express 'solidarity' with her move to step down as MP and Chairperson of the National Advisory Council (NAC) on the office of profit issue, party sources said here.
The 25 MLAs, including Leader of Opposition in the assembly Jamuna Devi and state Congress President Subhash Yadav, reached the Capital to meet Gandhi and put in their papers to her, state Congress spokesman Manak Agarwal told sources.
The Congress has 38 MLAs in the 230 member assembly.
The Leader of Opposition had yesterday raised the issue of office of profit in the state assembly and demanded resignation of 11 state ministers, including Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The party had also held statewide demonstrations seeking resignation of Chouhan, the state ministers and some BJP MLAsbesides submitting a memorandum to Governor Balram Jakhar
