Srinagar: One militant killed, two jawans injured

Srinagar: A militant was killed and two army jawans were injured in an encounter at Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway this morning (Mar 26 2006), official sources said.

The militants hurled grenades and opened fire indiscriminately on the army convoy on its way to Jammu, at Pampore, 14 kms from here, at around 0915 AM injuring two army jawans, they said.

In the retaliatory fire by the jawans, one militant was killed.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched an operation to nab the militants.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
