Sunday, March 26 2006 15:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Aizawl: Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) hailed the resignation of Congress President and the ruling UPA chairman Sonia Gandhi from her Lok Sabha membership and chairperson of the National Advisory Council as 'clear show of respect for the law of the land and observation of the courts of law'.

In a press release issued here yesterday (Mar 26 2006), the state PCC said that her resignation clearly showed her integrity and that she was a great and honest leader.

"As a great and responsible leader, she refused to cling to the high offices she held for the sake of the people and the country," the statement said.

The statement expressed the hope that the country as a whole and the Congress party would move forward in all respects under her leadership.
