Sonia's move to resign 'clever and matured': Vaidya Sunday, March 26 2006 13:00 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Nagpur:
The decision of Congress President Sonia Gandhi to quit the Lok Sabha seat and chairpersonship of National Advisory Council, over controversy on office of profit reflects her "clever move and maturity in politics," RSS ideologue M G Vaidya said today (Mar 26, 2006).
"Even quitting post of chairperson of national advisory council would have served the purpose but quitting both the posts reflects the kind of her political maturity," Vaidya observed in his weekly column in local Marathi daily 'Tarun Bharat', here.
While praising Sonia for her bold decisions, Vaidya also posed a question, without naming BJP, as to those terming her resignations as 'drama' should seek resignations from their members of Parliament also facing similar charges.
Sonia deserves compliments for stopping the Congress led UPA government from bringing an ordinance to save the situation.
"There is no point in the opposition criticising Sonia for quitting both the posts. The Congress will get the benefits from her resignations," Vaidya observed.
"Sonia has quit Lok Sabha and not taken political 'sanyas' as she is recontesting from Rae Bareli," Vaidya said adding, in the present political scenario, Sonia will emerge victorious by more votes than her previous elections.
