Kokrajhar dist authorities issue prohibitory orders Tuesday, March 28 2006 18:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kokrajhar (Assam):
Kokrajhar district authorities have issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr Pc and carrying of arms today (Mar 28, 2006) for the forthcoming assembly polls in the district of the administration to post a person, of 'junior' rank, to a senior post.
In a letter to the Health and Family Welfare Commissioner, the MMSA vehemently protested the posting of a 'junior officer' by allowing him to hold current charge of head of a department "sidelining a number of senior officers." The MMSA also released copy of the letter to the media.
Stating the action of the government set off a bad precedent as senior officers "will now have to serve under a junior officer," the apex organisation said it will lead to total degeneration among those in the service and "hamper the smooth delivery of healthcare services in the state."
Continuing its tirade against the government for putting in effect such posting, the association alleged it was based on 'favouritism' and done "against all set norms and policies of the government."
MMSA would have no other option but to resort to agitatation if such posting was allowed to continue, the association said.
The association was already at loggerheads with the D D Lapang government over the state's decision to offer sponsorship to a doctor for studying post graduate course at the Imphal-based Regional Institute of Medical Services. The government already announced a judicial inquiry into the matter.
