Sankararaman case: Charges framed against Seer

Pondicherry: Charges were framed against Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi, his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi and 22 other accused in the Sankararaman murder case by a court here today (Mar 28, 2006).

When Principal Sessions Judge M Chinnapandi framed the charges under various sections of IPC, the seers and the other accused pleaded not guilty.

The charges framed included murder, criminal conspiracy, giving false information to screen offenders and criminal trespass.

Both Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi told the court that the charges were false and concocted by the police.

The judge posted further proceedings in the case to April 17.
