'UPA disintegrating on office of profit issue'
Tuesday, March 28 2006 10:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The UPA Government at the Centre was 'disintegrating' on the issue of office of profit and there would be some 'fast' developments at the Centre in the next one month, BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar claimed yesterday (Mar 27, 2006).

The Left parties supporting the UPA government are in a fix over the issue, he told reporters adding 'as UPA disintegrates NDA emerges stronger.' Samajwadi Party, having 40 MPs, has come out strongly against Congress on the issue, he said.

If the Congress attempts to bring in a bill on the issue, BJP would question the motive behind curtailing the budget session of Parliament, Kumar added.

Claiming that BJP did not have any of its MPs holding an office of profit, he said efforts should be made to have a consensus on the issue, after talking to Leader of Opposition and others.

Kumar said he had filed a petition under Article 102 and 103 of the Constitution, before the President, demanding disqualification of Sonia Gandhi from Lok Sabha on March 22. " Her resignation is not a sacrifice but a compulsion", he said.

When asked about the column by senior RSS leader M G Vaidya, in which he had praised Sonia Gandhi, Kumar said Vaidya was no longer the RSS spokesperson.
