No confusion in the tie-up with DIC-K: Chennithala
Thursday, March 30 2006 14:50 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Thiruvananthapuram: Ruling out any confusion with regard to the tie-up with K Karunakaran's DIC-K, Congress pradesh chief Ramesh Chennithala today (Mar 30, 2006) said both parties would fight the assembly polls 'unitedly'.

"Workers of both Congress and DIC-K would work unitedly during polls and all other matters would be discussed after the polls," Chennithala told reporters here.

Declining to give a direct reply to Karunakaran's claim that merger of his party with Congress was not a pre-condition for the tie-up, Chennithala said his party wanted to unite all Congressmen under the leadership Sonia Gandhi.

There would be differences of opinion on many matters and they would be sorted out through discussions, he said ruling out reports of 'confusions' with regard to the alliance.

On the reported move of many Congress leaders to fight the poll as rebels after being denied tickets, Chennithala said the party did not take it very seriously.

"All such issues would be amicably settled," he said.

Congress had finalised its 77 candidates for the polls and party had given priority to new faces, he said adding there were 21 new faces in the party candidates' list.

However, he said party would given more prominence to women candidates next time.

Hitting out at the confusion over seat sharing in rival LDF camp, he said earlier it was LDF that used to complete first the seat sharing process in the state.
