Lucknow: In a new twist to the Mehar Bhargava murder case, Sunny Rawat the man identified yesterday as having fired the fatal shot today (Mar 30, 2006) confessed to the killing.

"Yes, I fired the shot. She (Mehar) called us dogs and threatened to use her connections to make life miserable for us. She said she would have the police lathi-charge us," Rawat said.

Rawat, who was arrested along with another youth, Sanjay Menon, by the police shortly before an encounter with Sachin Pahari in Kaiserbagh area of the city yesterday, was presented at a news conference here by the police.

The two were taken for identification to the Bhargava family house where Luv Bhargava's driver, Ganga Prasad, identified Rawat as having shot Mehar on February 28.

Rawat, who was hooded for protection of identity, said Pahari and others had been given Rs 75,000 in another killing.
