'Congress tangled in it 'own web' to trap SP MPs' Friday, March 31 2006 17:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Gorakhpur:
Continuing his tirade against the Congress, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today (Mar 31, 2006) said it had got tangled in its 'own web' to trap Samajwadi Party MPs and accused the UPA of being hand-in-glove with the BJP and BSP against his Government.
"The Congress has now got entangled in its own web woven to trap SP MPs. People like Jaya Bachchan were sent to the Rajya Sabha so that those excelling in different walks of life
could be directly involved in running the country," he told a public meeting in Barhalganj, about 45 km from here, referring to the profit-of-office issue.
He alleged that the Congress-led UPA government was 'hand-in-glove' with the BJP and BSP in conspiring against his government and criticised it of trying to bring in a new legislation to save 56 MPs enjoying all benefits and without whom the government at the Centre cannot survive.
He also accused the Congress of 'conspiring' against big industrialists and said that raids were conduted on their premises only to harass them.
The SP chief said there was no dearth of funds for developmental works in the state and if his party came back to the power after the next Assembly elections, he would ensure that his dream of making UP into 'Uttam Pradesh' would be fulfilled.
