Jammu:
Jammu and Kashmir government today (Mar 31, 2006) denied any illegal activity in the national rail project on Katra-Qazigund section and said fabrication units were being installed after proper sanction.
Eight fabrication units had been installed by contractors of Konkan Railways between Katra and Reasi in the national project for the Katra-Qazigund railway line, Animal Husbandry Minister Taj Mohiuddin told the state Assembly on behalf of the Revenue Minister.
The units were of a temporary nature and would be removed on completion of the project. No permanent structures were constructed anywhere, the units were being run on private generators and water was purchased from private water tankers, he said.
The minister said there was no illegal activity going on and the units were installed for construction of railway tracks after sanction from the Central government. "These cannot be constructed for industrial or commercial use," he said in reply to a calling attention motion.
