TADA issues NBW against Dawood's kin and associate Friday, March 31 2006 18:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
A TADA court today (Mar 31, 2006) issued non-bailable warrant against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's younger brother Annes Ibrahim and his close associate Sunil Nair who are wanted for their alleged complicity in the murder of builder Pradeep Jain.
The warrant was issued by designated judge P V Bavkar on a plea made by special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.
Nikam pleaded that both Annes and Nair were absconding since a long time and the prosecution wanted to go ahead with the trial, more particularly after the arrest of extradited ganster Abu Salem, the prime accused in this case.
The prosecution informed the court that it wanted to arrest Anees and Nair in the case and would eventually ensure that both were declared proclaimed offenders before Interpol help was sought to nab them.
Anees and Nair are shown as absconding accused in the 2001 murder case of builder Pradeep Jain who killed allegedly by shooters of gangster Abu Salem over a property dispute.
Salem, after his interrogation in the Jain murder case some time back, had claimed he executed the murder on the instructions of Anees Ibrahim.
Salem had confessed to his role in the conspiracy to murder Jain but later retracted his statement saying it was taken under duress.
Anees, suspected to be hiding in Pakistan, is also prime accused in the 1993 bomb blast case and is wanted in several other criminal cases registered by Mumbai police against him.
