CPI-M is following 'negative politics': Ramesh Saturday, April 1 2006 15:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Thiruvananathapuram:
Launching a tirade against the CPI-M's policies, Kerala PCC President Ramesh Chennithala today (Apr 1, 2006) said the CPI-M was following 'negative politics and anti-development agenda' which, he said, was the major stumbling block to Kerala's development.
The CPI-M, a major political party in the state, has not been able to work out a national policy on development matters such as FDI, Chennithala said at the 'Janavidi-2006' (people's mandate) programme, organised by the Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust here.
"CPI-M has one development policy in West Bengal and another in Kerala and the party has entirely a different face in New Delhi," Chennithala said.
Terming state Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan as 'anti-development,' Chennithala said Achuthanandan's return to the election fray had brightened UDF's chances in the coming elections in the state.
Chennithala claimed that UDF was able to implement several welfare measures for the poor and also put the state in the path of development.
"We seek vote for the continuity of the development and welfare programmes initiated during the UDF's five-year rule," he said.
UDF was more cohesive this time than the LDF, he said adding while seat sharing in the UDF was complete, the rival front was beset with seat sharing problems.
On poll-adjustments with Karunakaran's DIC-K, Chennithala said the main objective was to unite the democratic sections in the state to face the challenge posed by the CPI-M, which, he alleged, was adopting an anti-democratic approach.
