ULFA plea to vote for party loyal to resolve issues Saturday, April 1 2006 15:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Guwahati:
The banned ULFA has appealed to the people not to vote for any party which has not made any commitment on resolving the political conflict in Assam.
ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa said in a statement e-mailed to the local media here last night that political conflict was the main problem faced by the state and this problem must be on the top agenda of all political parties.
He said the Congress has promised that within five years it would resolve the problems facing the state but the same promise was made by the AGP in the run up to the 1996 polls.
''However, after they assumed power, the AGP denied making any such promise and they followed up their win by launching both open and secret killings in the state'', he said.
People should vote for those politicians who will ensure that problems of the state are resolved and the issue of the state's sovereignty is ensured, Rajkhowa added.
