SP to hold national executive meet in Jabalpur Sunday, April 2 2006 14:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The Samajwadi Party would hold its national executive in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh possibly in the first week of May to take stock of the political situation in the country and finalise its strategy for the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, where the party is in power.
A decision was taken in this regard at a Parliamentary Board meeting presided over by state Chief Minister and Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav here.
Party Vice-President Janeshwaar Mishra, Ram Gopal Yadav and Amar Singh, party leaders in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively and senior party leader Sahankar Singh Tekriwal
were among those attended the meeting at Mishra's residence.
Asked if withdrawal of support to Congress-led UPA government would be one of the agenda in the National Executive, Mishra said so far no agenda has been finalised for the meeting.
Later talking to reporters, Singh and Ram Gopal criticised a section of the media for their negative reporting that Samajwadi Party's fortune was dwindling in the state and reminded how the party has won six Rajya Sabha seats and a crucial assembly by poll in the state.
Besides, they said the party has also decided to expand its base in Bihar and Uttaranchal in the coming days.
However, they made it clear that no discussion was held on Rae Bareily.
