DMDK flay Jayalalithaa's notes on EC restrictions Tuesday, April 4 2006 14:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kancheepuram:
The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder and actor Vijayakant, has flayed the remarks made by AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa that the Election Commission was blocking the government from implementing welfare schemes in the state.
Addressing wayside election meetings at Uthiramerur, Walajabad and Orikkal, he wanted to know what the government was doing during the last five years and why they did not implement welfare schemes before the polls.
While one party was 'working for the welfare of their party chief and his family, the other was striving for the benefit of their party chief and her friend', he said in indirect references to DMK President M Karunanidhi and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa and her friend Sasikala.
Stating that people had given chances both to AIADMK and the DMK, the actor appealed to the voters to give his party a chance this time.
He ridiculed the promises by DMK on the free distribution of lands and the promise by AIADMK that it would generate jobs for unemployed youths.
