Delhi: Shivraj Patil assures help to fire victims

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today (Apr 04, 2006) visited the slum cluster in Geeta Colony here, where six persons were killed in a blaze last night, and assured all possible help to the victims.

"The Government is with the affected people. We will help them in all possible ways. The Delhi Government will decide compensation amount and the Centre would add to it, if required," Patil, who was accompanied by Union Home Secretary V K Duggal, City Police Commissioner K K Paul and other senior police and fire officials, said.

Six persons were killed, including a woman and child, and four injured when fire broke out in the slum cluster, along the banks of the Yamuna river, destroying 600 hutments last night.
