Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani and 20 supporters detained

Srinagar: Chairperson of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani was detained along with 20 of his associates when they were on way to Pattan Assembly constituency in connection with the poll boycott campaign, a spokesperson of the separatist amalgam claimed.

Geelani and his associates were taken into preventive custody by police when they reached Mirgund village enroute to Pattan, which is going to polls along with three other constituencies in the bypolls on April 24, the spokesperson said.

Geelani had launched an anti-poll campaign in north Kashmir over the past few weeks.
