EOW officials start interrogating Jagmohan Dalmiya
Tuesday, April 4 2006 14:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kolkata: Officials of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police today (Apr 04, 2006) began a fresh round of interrogation of former BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya and two other former board officials in connection with the alleged Rs 21.74 lakh misappropriation of funds case.

Dalmiya and two former BCCI Treasurers Kishore Rungta and Jyoti Bajpai were summoned to the 'Bhabani Bhavan' - the headquarters of the West Bengal CID, a little after noon.

The EOW officials who arrived in the city last night are likely to quiz officials of the Indian Overseas Bank's Bhawanipur branch with an account related to the 1996 World Cup.

Dalmiya's personal asssistant K Chowdhury may also be quizzed by the EOW officials. Dalmiya had attended four sessions of interrogation by the EOW in the Mumbai recently.

Dalmiya, Bajpai and Rungta have been appearing before the EOW as per the directions of the Bombay High Court, which had granted them interim relief against arrest.

The High Court had directed them to appear before the EOW in Mumbai for four days, and subsequently for two days at Kolkata.

The EOW officials are also supposed to scrutinize documents relating to the BCCI account for 1996 World Cup opened in the Indian Overseas Bank and from where the misappropriation is alleged to have taken place.

Yesterday Dalmiya had waited for one and half hour for the EOW officials but they did not turn up.
