No going back on decision to align with BJP: JD(U) Wednesday, April 5 2006 14:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
The Tamil Nadu unit of the JD(U) today (Apr 05, 2006) said that there was no going back on its decision to align with the BJP for the May 8 Assembly polls.
K Rajasekaran, state BJP president, in a statement here, said that the decision was taken at a full fledged meeting of the newly elected national council, state general council and office bearers.
A rift had appeared between JD(U) President George Fernandes and its parliamentary board president Sharad Yadav over the alliance, with the latter approving the state unit's decision. However, Fernandes rejected the alliance and said his party would contest on its own.
Rajasekaran said the state unit was not informed about the visit of Fernandes to Tamil Nadu, which was against 'inner party democracy' and added that he had taken up the matter with the party high command.
The issue would also be taken up during the election of office bearers at Patna on April 11 and 12, he said.
