Atleast 2.36 lakh chickens in six birdflu-affected tehsils of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra
have been culled since March 29, District Collector Vijay Singhal said today (Apr 5, 2006).
The Government has also paid compensation of Rs 4.5 lakh to the beneficiaries, Singhal said.
Also over 2 lakh people have been examined by the health workers in areas within 3 km radius of the affected tehsils and over 3 lakh in 3-10 km radius, for suspected symptoms of birdflu, he said adding that no one was found to be affected by it.
