'All efforts will be made to implement water scheme'

Bangalore: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today (Apr 5, 2006) assured the Legislative Council that all efforts will be made to implement the scheme for supplying water from Cauvery to Kolar city and town panchayats.

Responding to the issue raised by Nazeer Ahmed (Cong), H S Shivashankar (JDS), Dr L Hanumanthaiah (Nom) and Arvind Limbavali (BJP), he said as far as drinking water supply in the state was concerned wherever possible Cauvery water will be given.

Regarding implementation of Eragol project of Markandeya river in Bangarpet taluk, Kolar district, raised by H S Shivshankar, Nazeer Ahmed and Mukhyamantri Chandru (BJP), Kumaraswamy said the issue would come up before the cabinet within a fortnight and work would begin soon after that.
