The UPA Government has taken several initiatives to provide world class infrastructure facilities in the country and was spending Rs 1,80,000 crore for construction of roads, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Apr 5, 2006) said.
Laying the foundation stone of the Rs 325 crore Panipat National Highway Project, Singh said as much as 5,500 KM of National Highway was completed in the last one year, which was a record.
He said the Government was initiating public-private partnership for undertaking infrastructure projects like roads, telecom, ports and electricity.
