Rajnath Singh, Advani to campaign for party in TN

Chennai: BJP president Rajnath Singh and Opposition leader L K Advani will campaign for the party in Tamil Nadu which goes to the polls on May 8, a top party leader said today (Apr 5, 2006).

Senior leaders Jaswanth Singh and M Venkaiah Naidu, besides Chief Ministers from BJP ruled states, would also campaign for the party, BJP national secretary Bandaru Dattatreya said.

He told reporters here that the party would leave 49 seats to its allies like the Janata party and the JD(U) and would contest in rest of the seats in the 234-member assembly.

"Candidates of other parties, barring the Janata party and the JD(U), would contest on the BJP symbol," he said.

A lot of dalit groups would be contesting on the BJP symbol, he said.
