Agra:
A case has been registered against cine actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar for allegedly acquiring five plots of land by giving incomlete information and not paying the requisite judicial stamp dues.
The case was registered at Sikandra police station yesterday following a report by one Dhirendrapal Singh, administrator of the Nikunj officers cooperative housing society Ltd, against the actor, his wife Nadira Babbar, daughter Juhi, son Arya, brother Krishna Babbar and motherShobha Rani.
The report alleged that the actor had acquired five plots measuring a total of 2230 square yards by giving incomplete information. This amounted to breach of the terms and conditions of membership of the society.
Apart from Shobha Rani no other member of the Babbar family was living in the area of jurisdiction of the society which again was a breach of society rules, Singh alleged in the report.
These plots had been transferred to the Babbar family without following due procedure including surrender of the registered deed, the report said, adding in doing so stamp duty had not been paid to the state.
Police said action would be taken in the case only after fool proof evidence against the Lok Sabha member from Agra had been obtained.
Terming the case as 'political conspiracy', Babbar said he had tried to make a house through 'honest means'.
"If this is a crime I am prepared to go to jail," he said.
