J&K Govt: Disaster mgmt centres enroute to Amarnath

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government will set up 33 disaster management centres enroute to holy cave shrine of Amarnath to meet any eventuality during this year's yatra commencing in July.

The decision to set up disaster management centres from Jawahar Tunnel to the cave shrine was taken at a meeting, chaired by district development commissioner, Anantnag, Baseer Ahmed Khan, official sources said today (Apr 06, 2006).

Besides adequate medicare facility with oxygen, life saving drugs and medicines will be made available to the intending pilgrims enroute to the cave at all halting stations of Nunwan, Chandanwari and Panchtarni.

Arrangements for drinking water and electricity for the yatris are also being made, they said adding the roads and buildings department will undertake the repairs of the track from Pahalgam to Chandanwari immediately.
