Electioneering is gaining momentum in Jammu and Kashmir with filing of nominations by contestants of various political parties for four assembly constituencies which will go to polls on April 24.
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad filed his nomination from Bhaderwah constituency yesterday while PDP candidate Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari filed his papers from Pattan.
BJP contestant from Rafiabad constituency Mohammad Maqbool and independent candidate from Sangrama Shoib Nabi Lone also filed their nominations, official sources said.
PDP candidates Mohammad Dilawar Mir and Javid Hussain Baig, who will contest for Rafiabad and Sangrama constituencies respectively are expected to file their papers tomorrow, the last date of filing nominations.
National Conference candidates Sheikh Mustafa Kamal and Mohammad Maqbool are also expected to file their papers tomorrow from Pattan and Rafiabad respectively, party sources said today (Apr 06, 2006).
Bypoll was necessitated in Bhaderwah as the seat was vacated by Azad's kin Mohammad Sharief Naaz to make way for the Chief Minister's entry into the state Assembly.
The constituencies of Rafiabad and Pattan will go to polls as these two seats were fell vacant when sitting National Conference MLAs Dilawar Mir and Ansari left joined the PDP.
Bypoll to Sangrama constituency was necessitated after the killing of former education minister Ghulam Nabi Lone by militants.
